Over the last several months we have been remodeling our home. We installed wood floors throughout the house, granite counter tops, tile back splash, painted interior of house, remodeled the guest bath. What a task to take on, especially when the two doing the remodeling can't agree on ANYTHING!!!! LOL. We brought in a Designer (Michelle Sanders with Le Studio Interior Design here in Austin) to help, and to also be the mediator ;). We still have minor decorating to do, but everyone survived, and we are extremely happy with the results.
During the house remodel, I decided to organize my scrap room and sewing room. It was getting to the point that I could not find anything in either room! I would spend more time trying to find something then actually scrapping or sewing. I went in my scrap room several times to get things in order, and would get overwhelmed with all the stuff. I thought to myself.... "self, I wish I had an organizer help me get this room in shape". I had seen organizers on the "DIY" channels, and new what I wanted, but could not get past the huge mess in my room. So... I did it! I searched the Internet and found Barry Izsak with Arranging It All. www.ArrangingItAll.com
Below are pictures of my scrap room after we reorganized. I will post pictures of my sewing room on my "Stitching" page. I didn't take before pictures, but I had stacks of scrap supplies all over the floor, on the tables, and in boxes, card stock in stack everywhere. Barry came and we decided on the layout of the room. He installed shelves and tables from The Container Store. Then, helped me go through the piles of supplies, sort them out and organize them in a way that makes everything easily accessible. Barry was just amazing!!!!!! I can go in my room decide on a project, pull everything together, and actually complete the project in a reasonable amount of time. I know exactly where everything is!
Below, is the table that I use to layout a project, cut card stock, etc. Shelves above the table hold my stamps (most from Stampin Up!). Pink binder (on top shelf) holds my clear stamps in page protectors. Closet on the right holds designer card stock, and kits.
All my designer card stock is kept in 12X12 project folders and labeled, in the closet.
Card stock is kept in the paper stand (below) near the closet. Makes it easy to pull card stock, lay it out on the table, and decide what I want to use.
My ribbon is strung on a thin plastic tab and hung on binder rings. I got this idea from www.ribbonring.com I'm planning to hang a towel rod on the wall, then hang the rings on the rod, but for now, they are on back of the paper stand. I have the ribbon on rings by color. I really like this idea for storing ribbon because it is very easy to see, and the ribbon is straight and not curled. Also, can pull rings with the color of ribbon that matches my project, lay it on the paper and easily decide what I want to use.
Small embellishments (below) stored in clear plastic drawers.
Buttons all in one area, and easy to see.
Prima Flowers, Ki Memories alphabet soup, small rub-ons, stored on shelves for easy viewing/access.
Basket of small Rub-on's.
Large Rub-on's are hung on the two teared stand, sitting on the plastic drawers that hold other misc wood stamps, at the end of the table that I work on (below).
Robo Craft, Epson R1800 Photo printer (love this printer), and computer all on table behind my scrap area. Before, my computer and printer were in my husbands office, which is a room outside, that is attached to the garage.
Ink pads, pens, punches, glue, scissors, etc. are in the middle of the two work tables, so they are easily accessed from both sides, while scrapping.
The door leading to the back porch lets in a lot of light, as do the windows by the tables.
To the right of the door (above) is book shelves with my Scrapbook magazines.
I also, have scrap tools, bling (and more bling), chip board, magazines, boxes of photos, etc, stored on a shelving unit that was giving to me.
Well... thats it!!!! Took several days to get everything in order, but with the help of my organizer, it all came together, and I love it. A friend gave me a piece of word art that says "INSPIRE" that I am going to hang above the door (thank you Ann). Also have a few other things to hang on the wall, hopefully I will get that done this weekend.
Happy Scrappin :)

and it looks FABULOUS!!! What a fun place to play and create!

I love your room...just my style. i have two questions if you don't mind. Where did you get the shoe holder to hold your punches...I've been looking for something exactly like that. And also, where did you get the large brown shelving. The ones with the small squares...love those. it was the 2nd to last pic!

Hi Carla,
Thanks for looking at my blog.
The large wood shelving unit, I got from another scrapper when she purchased other furniture. I believe her husband made them.
The shoe storage, that I have my punches in, I purchased at The Container Store.
